Your mother. She’s there, right in front of you. Describe her. Is she tall, short n dumpy? Does she wander the house in a housecoat? A lawyer, doctor, or ad exec, brisk and harried? Does she chew gum? Is tofu her secret crave? Is she a cat lover? Does she despise your neighbor? What is her gripe? Does she wish your sister was an only child? Does she plan to sell you to gypsies? BTW: do you like to travel? All these things make for descriptive. It begs for the use of color words, rattling fireworks, words that look like fish, or boxy robots. This is the testing. Word choice is everything in writing. It can make or break your opus. Make all the words count!
Since this is a description essay , one is expected to write about the unique attributes that makes the individual or object being described special, which, in this case, is the speaker’s mother. One could begin writing this essay by describing what one’s mother means to one and the unique characteristics that makes one have special thoughts and feelings for the mother. One could also explain what one’s mother does that makes one perceive her to be a special human-being. Moreover, one could also describe how one’s mother used to take care of one.
