The Master of Health Administration (MHA) Program in the Texas A&M University Department of Health Policy and Management is a professional degree program intended for students pursuing administrative practice in health service related settings. We offer two tracks to earn the MHA degree: 1) the Resident Track for students embarking on their career in health administration and 2) the Executive Track for currently employed healthcare professionals.

The 55-credit hour Resident Track curriculum can be completed in 21 months (full-time) or 33 months (part-time). The comprehensive and timely curriculum includes a required 10-week summer practicum that allows you to apply classroom knowledge in a wide range of health services organizations. The Resident Track graduated its first cohort in 2002. Resident Track graduates have developed successful careers as managers and leaders across the healthcare industry spectrum including hospitals, physician offices, and groups, clinics, nursing homes, health insurers, consulting firms, and trade associations.

The 48-credit hour Executive Track admits students annually every August and requires two years to complete. This track is intended for working, mid-career healthcare professionals with at least 5 years of increasing responsibilities within health services or related industries. Courses in the Executive Track are taught one weekend a month at the Texas Medical Center in Houston, Texas. The Executive track graduated its first cohort in 2017.

Regardless which track you pursue, our MHA Program will provide you with a rigorous and comprehensive educational experience, including the core disciplines of the schools of public health that have become increasingly important in health administration. We embrace the ethic and philosophy that health services managers and leaders must provide appropriate direction in attending to the interests of the populations their organizations serve. We have a wide-ranging network of professional relationships with healthcare providers and associations within Texas and across the United States. Our MHA Program benefits greatly from our engaged and successful alumni and from one of the nation’s strongest alumni networks, namely, The Association of Former Students of Texas A&M University.

Our MHA Program is ranked as one of the top graduate healthcare management programs in the nation by U.S. News & World Report and was one of ten demonstration sites for the National Center for Healthcare Leadership (NCHL) that helped develop the MHA Program’s Competency Model for graduate health administration education. We have been continuously accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Management Education (CAHME) since 2008.

Thank you for your interest in our MHA Program. Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us directly at (979) 436-9483 or via e-mail to [email protected] . We look forward to receiving your application.
