Fifth Class Booklist 2018-19

A School Book Rental system is in place for pupils from Third to Sixth classes at a cost of €25 per pupil, subject to a family maximum contribution of €50.

For this fee, the school provides

• Planet Maths 5; • Reading Zone 5; • Abair Liom G; • Alive O – 7; • Small World History & Small World Geography & Science for 5th Class (C J Fallon); • Better English 5th Class ( www.educate.ie ) and a selection of Class Novels.  If you wish to participate in the rental scheme, please forward the money to the School Office by Friday, June 8th.  Alternatively, you may purchase the above books at your own expense.

BOOKS TO PURCHASE

It will also be necessary for all(including those availing of the School Book Rental) to purchase the following workbooks for the 2018-19 school year.
• New Wave Mental Maths 5; • Spellbound; • Fuaimeanna agus Focail, Litriú do Rang a Cúig, (Folens) and -New Wave English for 5th Class.

 Notes

It is school policy to have pupil names in Irish on copies etc;  personalised School Diaries will be available on opening week.

The school will re-open for pupils on Wednesday, 29th August 2018.

Other requirements
2 X Sum Copies; 2 X English Copies;  1 X Gaeilge Copy; 1 X SESE 64 Page Scrapbook;  2 X Pencils; 2 X Red Pens; 2 X Blue Pens; Eraser &Sharpener, Long Ruler; Colouring Pencils & a Mathematical Set. Each pupil should also have an Irish School Atlas (Collins) and an English and Irish Dictionary (preferably Collins).

Fifth Class really enjoyed World Book Day on March 2nd 2017.  They led the School Assembly on the day, reading excerpts from their favourite novels to all the pupils.

Rang a cúig are currently taking part in the Junior Entrepreneur Programme (JEP). It is a nationwide inititave in which pupils learn the steps needed to setup their own business. Pupils participate in a Dragon’s Den type scenario with the winning team going through to create their own product. The class also meet local entrepreneurs such as Grace Ann McGarvey Consultancy and Daniel Gallagher from North West Aluminium.

      Last day of term is June 21st 2019

      Please note that the above dates are subject to change.  In the event of unforeseen closures, the Board of Management may use the first three days of the Easter Holidays to catch up on missed school days.
