Legalize Gay Marriage
The purpose of my speech is to persuade my audience to agree with me that gay marriage
should be legalized.
Introduction:
I.
Attention Getter
: Imagine this; you and the person you are in love with are at a fancy
dinner. The restaurant has dim lighting, with elegant music playing in the
background. You look at that special someone sitting across from you at the table.
You feel that tonight is the night that your relationship should take a step further. You
want to ask the big question, but there is one problem, you’re gay. And according to
state law your relationship doesn’t exist, and you are not allowed to get married.
Marriage is a freedom, and if you are gay, you do not have that freedom. But isn’t
America the land of the free? Shouldn’t love be free? In my opinion, restricting love
because of your sexuality is unfair.
II.
Thesis Statement
: Gay marriage should be legalized.
III.
Show the Audience
: Just think, what if you weren’t allowed to make your love for
someone else official?
IV.
Establish Creditability
: I’ve known about my uncle being gay since I was 7. He has a
partner and they have two year old twins together. I know that they want to make
their family as a whole by getting married; however, they can’t.
V.
Preview of Main Points
: Gay marriage being illegal is a problem; there is a cause for
that problem, and a simple solution.
[Let’s discuss the problem.]

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
